I won a 1996 Associated Press Class AA Second Place award for my part in uncovering a primary election day bungle where 6,000 voter names were left off registration lists due to a mistake in a state operated computer system. I won two 1995 Associated Press Class AA First Place press awards (One for Deadline Reporting and one for Freedom of Information reporting) for my part in the coverage of an A-10 military aircraft crash and the paper's suit of the city school board when the board failed to release three school superintendent search names in order to comply with the Georgia Sunshine (Open Records) Laws.
